Fresh XP Home OEM doesn't connect to internet.  Related to Event ID 615?
Hello, I'm fixing a 6-year old PC in the office of a charity and I re-installed XP Home OEM (used the same product key as on their sticker), and now find that I can't connect to the internet. After XP, I installed the chipset drivers, NIC, video, and audio drivers. All of these processes went fine. Then I tried to hop on the internet to no avail. Then I installed SP3 and tried again - nothing. The desktop is a Compaq S6300NX. The error I receive in the Security Event Log is Type: Failure Audit, ID: 615. "IPSec Services failed to get the complete list of network interfaces on the machine." Thanks for your help, Juggs. 1 person needs an answerI do too

DM is clear. I even used three different drivers for the NIC; all give the same result. I google'd the above error msg and the consensus seems to be that the OS can't see the list of network devices. Argh! I've so rarely been frustrated with MS. This is one of those times. Network Connections shows the LAC has an unplugged cable. I connect using a different PC - wireless connection to the router. (The other is wired.)

As far as I'm aware Ipsec services is only used on a Domain connectionHave you checked the service & its Dependancies in Adminastrative Tools>Services?IPSEC should be automatic & started, and has a number of Dependancies (RPC & TCP/IP) which in turn have dependancies
